Why walk-ins lose temperature
Iced evaporator coils from a failed defrost cycle, dirty or blocked condenser coils, a refrigerant leak, a failed evaporator fan motor, a stuck contactor or pressure control, a bad thermostat or temperature control, and — very often — door gaskets, hinges and closers that no longer seal against a busy kitchen.
Repairs and replacement
We repair and replace condensing units, evaporator coils, fan motors, defrost controls and timers, expansion valves, line-set components, door hardware, strip curtains and controls. We also install complete new walk-in boxes and refrigeration systems sized to your product load.

What to do in the first hour
Before anyone arrives, three things protect your stock. Keep the door shut. Every open of a failing cooler dumps the cold you have left and adds humidity that will freeze onto the coil. Check the temperature and write it down, with the time. If you end up discarding product or talking to an inspector, a written log of when it started rising is the difference between a judgement call and a guess. Move the highest-risk product first — dairy, cut produce and anything already opened — into whatever working space you have, rather than trying to save everything.
The temperature the code actually cares about
Texas food establishment rules require cold holding at 41°F or below. That is the number an inspector checks, and it is not the same as the number on your thermostat dial. Air temperature at the sensor and product temperature in the middle of a case of chicken can differ by several degrees, which is why a cooler that reads 40°F can still fail.
We check product temperature as well as air temperature, and we leave you the readings. A cooler drifting to 45°F is not a comfort problem you can live with until next week — it is a health-code problem and a spoilage bill.
What it costs, and when we come out
A commercial diagnostic visit is $120. Outside Monday to Saturday 8–5, and on Sundays, it is $200 — and we do come out, because a walk-in full of product at 2am on a Saturday is not a Monday problem.

Walk-In Cooler Repair — questions we get asked
What temperature should a walk-in cooler hold?
Generally 35–38°F for a cooler. If yours is climbing above 41°F you are into the food-safety danger zone and it needs attention immediately.
There is ice all over the evaporator — what does that mean?
The defrost cycle is not doing its job: a failed defrost timer or board, a burnt-out defrost heater, or a defrost termination sensor out of calibration. Melting it manually is a temporary fix at best.
How fast can you get to a failing walk-in?
We are in Celina, so Prosper and Frisco are a short run and McKinney is not much further. For a walk-in with product in it we treat the call as an emergency regardless of the hour. What we will not do is promise a fixed arrival time during a heatwave when every commercial system in North Texas is under load at once.
Can I keep running the cooler while it is failing?
Usually yes, and usually you should — a cooler holding 45°F is still doing more for your product than a cooler that is off. The exception is a compressor making a grinding or screaming noise, which means switch it off and move the stock. Running that turns a compressor repair into a compressor replacement.
Do you work on refrigeration nobody else will touch?
Often. Most residential HVAC companies in this area do not do commercial refrigeration at all, which is why restaurants end up calling three places. We carry the common walk-in failure parts — contactors, fan motors, defrost timers, thermostats and door gaskets — so most calls finish on the first visit.
