Most HVAC blogs exist to rank, not to help — four hundred words of preamble before the thing you actually searched for, and every answer ending in “call a professional”.
These are written the other way round. If there is something you can safely check yourself in ten minutes, it is in the first section, before anything we would charge you for. A page that tries to turn a $12 filter into a service call is transparent, and it is why nobody trusts contractor blogs.
