AC Tune-Up in Celina & Collin County

Two questions come up on every tune-up call: what does it cost, and how long does it take. Flat rate, quoted before we book, and about 60–90 minutes for a single system. Here is exactly what those minutes buy.

What a real tune-up actually includes

A tune-up is a measurement job, not a wipe-down. We take static pressure across the air handler, superheat and subcooling on the refrigerant circuit, amp draw on the compressor and both motors, and capacitor microfarads against the rated value. We check the condensate line and test the float switch, wash the condenser coil, check the contactor for pitting, tighten electrical connections, verify thermostat calibration and confirm the temperature split across the coil. You get the readings, not just a sticker on the unit.

Why the numbers matter more than the checklist

A capacitor rated at 45 microfarads that measures 38 has not failed yet — but it will, almost always on the first genuinely hot day, when every company in Collin County is already booked. Catching it during a tune-up turns a July emergency into a fifteen-minute part swap. The same is true of a contactor with burnt points, or a condensate line that is half blocked and one storm away from tripping the float switch.

When to book it in North Texas

March and April, before the first 95° day. Cooling season here runs long and hard, and a system that starts the summer with a weak capacitor and a dirty condenser coil spends four months working harder than it needs to. If you have already missed spring, a tune-up still pays for itself — the failures we find do not care what month it is.

Or let us just remember it for you

The problem with maintenance is not the cost. It is that nobody thinks about their air conditioner in March, and then it is 105°F and everyone is thinking about it at once.

Two tune-ups a year bought one at a time come to $198 for a single system, or $318 for two. Comfort Club membership is $150 and $240$48 and $78 cheaper for the same two visits, before you count the priority scheduling, the 10% off repairs, and no overtime charge on after-hours calls.

Members get booked automatically in spring and autumn, so the tune-up happens whether or not it crossed your mind.

Answers

AC Tune-Up — questions we get asked

How much does an AC tune-up cost?

We quote a flat rate before we book, so there is no meter running and no surprise at the end. Comfort Club members pay a reduced rate and get priority scheduling. Call 469-919-7646 and we will give you the number on the phone.

How long does an AC tune-up take?

About 60 to 90 minutes for a single system. A two-system home runs closer to two hours. If we find something that needs repair we quote it before touching it, and you decide whether it happens on that visit.

Is an AC tune-up actually worth it?

It depends on the system, and we will tell you honestly. On anything over five years old it usually pays for itself the first time it catches a weakening capacitor or a blocking condensate drain. On a two-year-old system still under warranty the case is weaker, and we would rather say so than sell you one.

Do you offer a tune-up special?

We run seasonal pricing in spring and autumn. If you have more than one system, or you plan to stay in the house, the Comfort Club is usually better value than a one-off — it bundles both seasonal visits with priority scheduling and a repair discount.
